Urad Flour

Urad Flour, also known as “Black Gram Grind Flour” or “Urid Flour”, is a black bean or gram that is mostly grown in India-Pakistan region and has been cultivated for many decades. Urad flour is made from black gram lentils which are grinded into smooth fine powder, which is a sandy white color. Nutritionally it is full of energy as it is protein dense, and is full of Potassium, Calcium, Iron, and Niacin. It aids in digestion, provide strength to muscles, aids in diabetes, and helps reduce skin irritation.

The flour can be used to bake cakes, banana bread, dosas, crepes, cookies, and pancakes. In the Asian subcontinent it is used to make Chappati or roti, papad, and vada.
