      This specific brand of  Alaria  called "Wild Atlantic Wakame" ( Alaria esculenta ) is biologically and nutritionally similar to Japanese wakame ( Undaria pinnatifid ). Although it required a slightly longer cooking time it provides a more wild, yet delicate taste which makes it very ideal for miso soup. The mild flavor allows it to compliment the other ingredients without overwhelming them.

      Powdered  Alaria  is a great addition to green drinks (try mixing it with kelp and dulse powder) or any energy drink that needs mineral fortification (particularly calcium). It's a great source of vegetable protein, dietary fiber, calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, vitamins, anti-oxidants, iodine, and other trace minerals.
